With Fallout 3 as its pinnacle, wasn't there a period in video gaming when "green [was] the new real"? Or was it grey, perhaps? I can't remember, but suddenly a lot of games had this monochrome filter to make it look gritty and, I suppose by psychological extension, realistic. It worked for me, though. And fog always works well in games, anyway, and has an intrinsic link with memory. | |
