I've recently asked two questions on other SE sites about video game movie adaptations and their connections to their source material:

  1. Are there elements in the 2024 Borderlands movie from games beyond the first two? on Science Fiction & Fantasy SE
  2. Are there elements in "A Minecraft Movie" from the Minecraft spin-off games like Story Mode or Legends? on Movies & TV SE

These questions are about which elements from the original video games appear in their movie adaptations. I'd like to know if similar questions would be considered on-topic here at Arqade.

My thinking is that a gaming audience might be better equipped to identify and explain these connections than users on Movies SE or Sci-Fi & Fantasy SE, who may not be as familiar with the original game material.

Imho, this is somewhat similar to game identification questions about videogames in movies and tv series. So I don't see anything wrong about asking them here.

I don't know how these were handled in the past, but going forward, questions like these, with one foot in the video game world and one foot in another medium, should be considered on-topic for Arqade. We could tag them with (used on another site) or similar, which would allow them to be filtered out easily.

If a question isn't about the video game at all (e.g., asking about movie actors), I would consider that off-topic for Arqade.
